SUMMARY   
Responsible for the operations of company owned and time chartered Dry Bulk vessels/ cargo’s as well as handling post fixture and operational work related to fixtures concluded by NBA on behalf of NYK Tokyo & NYK Bulk & Project.

 

This position is with NYK BULKSHIP

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that vessels have a smooth and effective operation throughout

• Maintain up to date database of port information and other operations related information.

• Regularly liaise with service providers (port authorities, stevedores, agents, others to ensure operations are efficient and cost-effective.

• Collate, distribute and file ships manifests, copy bill of lading and other documents, keep thorough documentation of any operated vessel.

• Processing / verification of Disbursements accounts / other operational related expenses

• Verify and reconcile brokerage, hire and freight payments accurately and in a timely manner.

• Record ship positions and financial data in IMOS and similar system (if any), liaise with the Accounts Team to reconcile voyage results.

• Adhere to all quality control systems that are in place in order to minimize damage/claims to cargo.  Forward cargo claims to OPS Manager /NYK Legal Dept.

• Ensure that management is advised of any problems in a timely manner.

• Undertake clerical/general administration duties to meet the needs of the position/department.

• Take up networking opportunities provided by the industry as well as by NYK itself

• Achieve MICS diploma (= Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers diploma)

• Gain knowledge of IMOS (NYK operating system) and similar system application

• Plan and Support faster hold cleaning

• Evaluation of Weather Routing Service

Schedule and Logistics:

· Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for 35 hours per week (does not include lunch break).

· Work style is a combination of in-office work and remote work from home office.

· Laptop and any required work materials to be provided for duration of employment.

· Office location is 300 Lighting Way, Secaucus, NJ 07094.

 

ADA REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (the following describes physical demands of the typical position)
The employee is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position except when attendance is needed at vessel.  Walking, stooping, filing, lifting or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, file, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The employee must frequently talk and be able to hear.
